Maybe you haven’t noticed all the big name arrivals but lets put this into perspective, all roads are leading to Rome or more accurately all roads are leading to Serie A.
Looking at the numbers while consulting transfer sites, more and more players are being drawn to Serie A than those leaving to play outside Italy. In the past weeks Serie A has seen an influx of big names from both the EPL and La Liga including Mathieu Flamini, Sulley Muntari, John Arne Riise, Olof Melberg, Gianlucca Zambrotta, Christian Poulsen, and of course Ronaldinho. Going in the opposition direction are, Valon Behrami, Tomas Ujfalusi, Maniche and Ludovic Giuly.
So what is the draw to Italian Calcio, money alone? Surely it can’t be the only reason, here’s hoping you the tifosi (fans) can fill in the blanks. Tell us at Serie A Talk what you feel is most appealing about playing in Italy by leaving your comments below.
This month’s FourFourTwo magazine has a great article, La Dolce Vita (the Sweet Life). It covers Brits Ian Rush, Gazza, Paul Ince and others who played in Italy during the last three decades so don’t miss it as it could possibly help you with answers.
