After controversially losing to Newcastle last weekend, Arsenal got back on track on Saturday with a 3-1 win against Burnley. The Gunners grabbed all three points thanks to three different goalscorers in the game. Leandro Trossard, William Saliba, and Oleksandr Zinchenko all managed to find the back of the net for the north London club.
Burnley entered the matchday desperately in need of a positive result. After all, the club sat in the relegation zone with one win, one draw, and nine losses. Their four points are two behind Luton Town, which is just outside the drop zone. However, the dismal start to the season continued for the Clarets.
The only dent in the match for Arsenal was the fact that Fabio Vieira was sent off late in the game. The midfielder was given a straight red card for a mistimed and dangerous tackle on Burnley’s Josh Brownhill. Nevertheless, the Gunners managed to hold on to their lead and take home the much needed points.
Win puts Gunners only behind City in table on goal difference
Arsenal now sits level on points with league-leading Manchester City. The reigning Premier League champions, however, have an opportunity to extend their lead this weekend. City faces Chelsea on Sunday, November 12th.
