Bournemouth thumped visiting Everton 3-0 on Saturday further piling pressure on Frank Lampard as Everton continue to struggle.

The hosts collected their first Premier League victory in over a month. Bournemouth entered the match bottom of the form table, with just two points in their last six fixtures.

However, the Cherries took advantage of a shaky Everton defense on the day. Marcus Tavernier put his club ahead in the first half after a massive mistake by Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. The England number one failed to collect a shot on goal and put the ball on a tee for Tavernier.

Bournemouth’s second goal was more controversial. Everton center back James Tarkowski fell down inside Pickford’s box with an apparent head injury.

The referee, however, did not stop the game and allowed Bournemouth to continue play. Wales striker Kieffer Moore capitalized on the play and headed home a goal.

Substitute Jaidon Anthony put the finishing touches on the game. The winger was on the pitch for only about a minute before he put the third and final goal passed Pickford. Everton’s defending on the set piece was appalling as Anthony was unmarked just a few yards away from goal.

Bournemouth collect big three points

Although still fairly early in the season, the game felt like a six-pointer. Both teams are currently in the bottom half of the league table. Everton now find themselves just a point away from the relegation zone.

After the game, traveling Toffees supporters had words for their team and manager Frank Lampard. Police had to come out to the pitch after the full-time whistle and get in between the fans and players.

Bielsa could become next boss

The Cherries, on the other hand, should receive a big boost from the win. Former Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has been heavily linked with the Bournemouth job. Now 13th in the Premier League table, the job could look even more desirable.

Gary O’Neil is currently serving as interim boss at the club. Scott Parker was previously fired in late August after a poor start to the current campaign.

Both clubs will now get a break before their next Premier League fixture. As the World Cup in Qatar is set to start, English top flight teams will not play again until after Christmas.
