ESPN’s Jon Champion will be one of the lead commentators for the ITV coverage of the 2022 World Cup. One of the most popular narrators in the business, Champion joins the British network for the tournament as ESPN does not have broadcasting rights for the Qatar World Cup here in the United States.
Along with Champion, ITV also features Sam Matterface, Clive Tyldesley, Seb Hutchinson, Joe Speight, and Tom Gayle as commentators. Analysts Lee Dixon, Ally McCoist, John Hartson, and Andros Townsend will join the commentators in on the gantry.
Champion worked for ITV beginning in the early 2000s as the network previously won broadcasting rights to the Premier League. The Englishman also called UEFA Champions League and League Cup matches for the channel as well.
Along with important games in England, Champion also has World Cup experience. He called matches for ITV in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and then the 2014 and 2018 tournaments for ESPN and FOX Sports respectively. Champion currently covers MLS games alongside Taylor Twellman.

Studio commentators for ITV during the upcoming World Cup will also feature some popular figures in the sport. Ian Wright, Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Karen Carney, Graeme Souness, Joe Cole, Eni Aluko, Nigel De Jong, Nadia Nadim, and Hal Robson-Kanu will all feature for the network throughout the competition.
Mark Pougatch, Seema Jaswal, and the fantastic Laura Woods will also present the World Cup for ITV.
ITV will share 2022 World Cup broadcasting rights in the United Kingdom with BBC. Each network airs 32 games throughout the duration of the tournament.
Here Stateside, FOX Sports is carrying all of games in English. Telemundo, and fellow NBC-owned outlet Peacock, will take care of the Spanish-language broadcast.
