Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed that midfielder Arturo Vidal is set to leave the club.

“We’ve always said we won’t sell players unless the players indicate that’s what they want,” Marotta said.

“That’s how it was. [Carlos] Tevez asked to return home to Argentina. [Andrea] Pirlo made some assessments, and decided he wanted a new experience.

“[Angelo] Ogbonna asked for opportunity and consistency in playing time, and as for Vidal I asked him before I went to meet the Bayern Munich leadership.

“He confirmed he wanted a different experience. I’d also emphasize that the player had a contract ending in 2017, while they’re offering him a five-year contract, and that’s very important for his future.

“We’re not a selling club, we’re attentive to those who can increase our quality level.”

Prior to this revelation, Vidal had been strongly linked with a move to Bayern Munich, with many believing a transfer was imminent.

Just this morning, reports surfaced suggesting the Chile international was set to leave for Munich after agreeing a four-year deal with the Bundesliga champions. Juventus are believed to have accepted a €37 million fee for the midfielder and Vidal will leave Turin after winning four Serie A titles in four years.

Vidal is reportedly on his way to Munich to have a medical and Bayern are expected to announce the deal later this week.

This will be the Chilean’s second spell in German football, the midfielder had a previous stint with Bayer Leverkusen from 2007 to 2011.

Juventus are understood to be negotiating a deal to sign Schalke 04 midfielder Julian Draxler as Vidal’s replacement in Massimiliano Allegri’s side.

The Italian champions have already completed the signings Mario Mandzukic (Atletico Madrid), Sami Khedira (Real Madrid) and Paulo Dybala (Palermo) this summer.
