With their win over Iran in the final match of Group B play, the United States has advanced to the knockout round at the 2022 World Cup. So when does the USA play next in the World Cup?
USA’s win coupled with England’s win in their game against Wales means that the US has finished in second place in Group B. That positioning sets the US up with a clash againstNetherlands on Saturday at 10:00AM ET in the round of 16 this weekend.
The USA last played in the knockout round in their previous appearance in the World Cup, at Brazil 2014. That year, they fell to Belgium in the round of 16. They bowed out in the same round in 2010 in South Africa, falling 2-1 to Ghana in extra time after the memorable last minute performance in their final group game. The furthest the US have advanced in modern times was 2002, when they made it to the quarterfinals, narrowly losing to Germany 1-0 after defeating rivals Mexico 2-0 in the round of 16.
With a knockout round match airing on a weekend – the USA’s first non-weekday match of the 2022 tournament – this will surely be a massive event all across the country, with soccer fans gathering together to take in the action.
You can watch the match on FOX in English-language, available via fuboTV, and on Telemundo and Peacock for Spanish language coverage.
