However, Roma had not yet accepted the offer from Al-Qadsiah, reportedly worth only $3.3 million plus bonuses. The final decision was left to Dybala, and in the end, he chose to stay.



<h2>Emotional goodbye that wasn’t</h2>



What prompted this sudden change of heart? According to reports from <a href="https://gianlucadimarzio.com/it/dybala-roma-permanenza-retroscena-motivi" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sky Italia</a>, the emotional farewell to his teammates. His close friends and fellow Argentinians Leandro Paredes and Matias Soule played a significant role. The realization of leaving behind these relationships, coupled with the outpouring of love from fans, weighed heavily on Dybala. Messages from supporters urging him not to end his European career, as well as advice from his family, also influenced his decision.

Roma’s manager, Daniele De Rossi, is reportedly considering a <a href="https://www.corrieredellosport.it/news/calcio/serie-a/roma/dybala/2024/07/28-130763291/de_rossi_e_l_idea_dybala_falso_nove_le_sue_parole" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">significant shift in Dybala’s position</a> on the pitch; it could see him take on even greater responsibility in the team’s attack.

According to <a href="https://www.calciomercato.com/news/roma-per-dybala-tentazione-arabia-saudita-due-maxi-offerte-sul-tavolo-29869" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Calciomercato</a>, Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad have both made substantial offers to <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/2022/07/21/paulo-dybala-arrives-as-romas-new-diamond-up-top/">Dybala</a>; with contracts reportedly worth over $16.4 million net per season; potentially rising to $22 million with add-ons. 



These offers are tempting, especially considering that the player is in the final year of his contract with Roma.

<h2>Another Saudi club joins race</h2>



Adding to the intrigue, a third Saudi club, Al-Qadsiah, has also expressed serious interest in signing Dybala, <a href="https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/rassegna-stampa/roma-dall-arabia-una-nuova-offerta-per-dybala-l-argentino-non-ha-pero-intenzione-di-muoversi-1998781" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Corriere dello Sport</a>&nbsp;say. 



Backed by the oil giant Aramco, they are ready to offer the 30-year-old a lucrative contract to join their ranks. The club’s interest is so strong that Mohammad Al Sa’ud, president of the PIF Fund has personally stepped in to negotiate with Dybala through an intermediary.



These tempting promises didn’t seem to pique the veteran’s interest in relocating to Saudi Arabia, however. 



The Argentine striker has reportedly tied the knot and plans to remain in Rome, where he has just established his home. 



Dybala turned down previous offers from the Middle East because he wants to stay in Italy for personal reasons; also because he wants to keep trying to gain a position on the Argentine national team.



<h2>Roma’s stance on Dybala’s future</h2>



From Roma’s perspective, the club is not keen on losing one of its most valuable players; especially with the <a href="https://worldsoccertalk.com/serie-a-tv-schedule/">Serie A</a> season fast approaching. 



While substantial, the offers from Saudi Arabia do not seem to have swayed the club’s resolve. Dybala’s release clause, set at $13 million, was only active during July. With that window now closed, the Italians don’t expect to entertain any bids for their star forward.



Moreover, Dybala’s influence at the club extends beyond his on-field contributions. He has become an important figure in the dressing room; helping to convince players like Matias Soule to join Roma from Juventus this summer.



 His leadership and experience are seen as vital components of De Rossi’s project for the upcoming season.



The report adds that there is no indication that Dybala is seeking a move away from Trigoria, Roma’s headquarters. 



The absence of any formal request or proposal from the player himself suggests that he is fully committed to the club’s future. 



As the start of the Serie A season draws closer, the idea of losing such a key player would likely be met with significant backlash from fans, further solidifying Dybala’s position at the club.

Paulo Dybala suffered an injury as Roma defeated Lecce on Sunday, 2-1. The <a href="https:\/\/worldsoccertalk.com/nations/argentina-national-team-tv-schedule/">Argentine </a>striker hobbled after scoring the winning goal just four minutes after the start of the second half.



After slotting a penalty past Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone, Dybala winced and grabbed his left leg. In the halted celebrations, Dybala tried to walk off the knock, while other Roma players signaled to the bench. Eventually, manager Jose Mourinho substituted Dybala off the field, with Nemanja Matic coming on in his stead.



After the game, <a href="https:\/\/twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1579219528860721153" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mourinho spoke about the potential severity</a> of the Paulo Dybala injury. Speaking to DAZN, Mourinho said the outlook is bad, just based on the manager’s experience with this kind of injury.



“I say [Dybala is] bad. Not to say very, very bad. Unfortunately, it is more very bad than [just] bad,” Mourinho said. Early reports on the injury claim it could last four to eight weeks. It is listed as a quadriceps injury.

Like many other teams spread out in European competition, AS Roma has a loaded schedule before the World Cup begins in November. Paulo Dybala is almost assuredly out of the nine games Roma has through mid-November. However, that is not the biggest loss for the player.



<h2>Paulo Dybala injury and the World Cup</h2>



Part of the reason <a href="https:\/\/worldsoccertalk.com/2022/07/21/paulo-dybala-arrives-as-romas-new-diamond-up-top/">Paulo Dybala switched over to Roma</a> was to increase his form in preparation for the World Cup. As of now, Dybala is not a bonafide starter for the Argentina national team. In fact, there is a case he does not even get on the plane to Doha. 



Through 11 games, that bet paid. Dybala has <a href="https:\/\/www.transfermarkt.us/paulo-dybala/leistungsdaten/spieler/206050" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">seven goals and two assists</a> across his time in Serie A and the Europa League in 2022/23. However, this injury not only stops his form, but it puts Paulo Dybala on the fence for selection entirely.



Lionel Scaloni did not select Dybala for the 2021 Copa America. However, he did call Dybala up for the Finalissima against Italy this past summer. The Roma forward scored after coming off the bench in stoppage time.



The World Cup for Argentina begins Tuesday, Nov. 22. It opens the tournament as one of the favorites and a first group stage game against Saudi Arabia.

Paulo Dybala’s free and unceremonious <a href="https:\/\/worldsoccertalk.com/2022/07/20/roma-sign-former-juventus-forward-dybala/">transfer to Roma</a> is a stark contrast of just a couple years prior. Just two years ago, Dybala celebrated his fifth-consecutive Scudetto with Juventus. Fans chanted for ‘La Joya’ across Turin.
Since then, the narrative turned on its head. Following the 2021/22 campaign, the Argentine international sat out of contract and out of love at Juventus. As time ticked away in the summer window, Dybala’s possible future destinations faded day-by-day. Riddled by injuries and patchy form, few clubs expressed interest in betting on his services. Simultaneously, high agent fees further alienated the striker from progressing in negotiations.
At the beginning of the rumor mill, his most likely destination appeared to be Juventus’s biggest rival, Inter. The reacquisition of Romelu Lukaku cooled Dybala’s speculation to the San Siro. The striker’s desire to remain in Italy seemed to be a futile dream.
However, Paulo Dybala found salvation from Roma. José Mourinho hopes to reignite Dybala’s once seemingly unstoppable form with the Old Lady. In doing so, he wants the striker to return to glory at the heart of his attacking side.
<h5>Dybala’s story of success in Italy</h5>
Disappointment and setbacks marred Dybala’s last few seasons. This does not tell the tale of his success in Italy.
After setting Serie B and Serie A alight for Palermo, the young forward drew interest from all clubs in the top flight. Ultimately, the allure of the Bianconeri and its recent domestic dominance convinced Dybala. Joining in summer 2015 for an <a href="https:\/\/www.transfermarkt.us/paulo-dybala/transfers/spieler/206050" target="_blank" rel="noopener">initial fee of $45 million</a>, Dybala had an impressive debut season in Turin. The Argentine racked up 19 goals and seven assists in 34 appearances. Consequently, he finished as Juventus’s top goal-scorer in Serie A.
The departure of Carlos Tevez freed up some room for Dybala to shine. Accordingly, Dybala solidified his role as a starter.
He was a joy to watch for all football fans, rightfully earning him the nickname ‘La Joya‘ – The Diamond. His majestic dribbling and wand of a left foot took Serie A by storm. With Dybala at the helm, Juventus won a fifth-consecutive Scudetto. The following season, Dybala continued his success. He played a major role in his side’s run to the Champions League Final. Only the previous season’s champions, Real Madrid, could stop the Old Lady. After an excellent campaign, Dybala earned the No. 10 shirt. This further indicated he was set to be the star man at Juventus for years to come.
Interestingly, this added pressure fueled increased success. Yet again, he produced a stellar campaign in 2017/18, even earning the captain’s armband for a few matches. Nevertheless, he withstood the pressure and once again became the club’s top scorer that season.

<h5>Dip in form</h5>
The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo shook up things at Juventus. The Portuguese star took much of the starlight the likes of Dybala and Higuain were left in the dust. CR7’s arrival forced Dybala out of position. The ensuing significant dip in form came despite the club’s domestic success. Allegri faced criticism for his deployment of the Argentine. However, Juventus relieved Allegri of his position due to a lack of success in the UEFA Champions League.
Dybala’s season under Maurizio Sarri in 2019/20 was a huge success. Many Juventus fans hoped that La Joya was back, with Dybala being awarded the Serie A MVP for his excellent domestic performances. Unfortunately, Andrea Pirlo’s takeover for one season did not tell the same story. Injury struggles made it difficult for the Argentine to find a consistent run of form. Then, Allegri’s return to the helm in the summer of 2021 did not spark much hope for Dybala.
Once again, the Italian tactician insisted on playing the forward out of position to accommodate for Ronaldo. Poor performances at the Allianz Arena, coupled with the rising force of Antonio Conte’s Inter side, marked an end to the Bianconeri’s streak of Scudetti. Bad news followed for Juventus after that disappointing season. Star man Cristiano Ronaldo announced his desire to leave the club in the transfer window of 2021. The Portuguese superstar returned to Manchester, and it cleared the path for Dybala’s return to form.
Unfortunately, injury struggles once again held back the Argentine. Heated contract negotiations caused further tensions in the background as the distance for a contract renewal widened. Unwilling to meet his demands, Juventus CEO Maurizio Arrivabene announced that the club would not renew their star forward and captain in March 2022.
<h3>Paulo Dybala switches to AS Roma</h3>
Dybala made his discontent with the club’s management very public. After scoring against Udinese, the Argentine stared down the likes of Pavel Nedvěd, Andrea Agnelli and others. Tensions continued to rise as the Argentine spent more time on the bench with the renewed form of Alvaro Morata. At the time, the Spaniard formed a tidy partnership alongside star signing Dušan Vlahović.
With contract extension talks at a standstill, the Argentine explored his options outside Turin. The media romanticized a reunion with Beppe Marotta at Inter. Also, both sides did not hide the mutual interest. At the beginning of the summer transfer window, it seemed certain that Dybala would join his boyhood club Inter Milan.
However, the shock return of Romelu Lukaku deemed the Argentine surplus to requirements in the forward department. Dybala’s desire to remain in Serie A hindered his interest from clubs abroad, with little to no links to the Premier League or La Liga. Outside of Inter, there were certainly other clubs in Italy interested in the attacker. Yet, Paulo Dybala only drew serious interest from Roma.
The rumoured exit of Zaniolo opened space for creative flair in José Mourinho’s Europa-Conference-League-winning side. Dybala fits the bill to perfection. With rising competition for a La Selección spot ahead of the World Cup, Dybala hopes that the legendary tactician will make use of his immense talent. The city of Rome is rocking in anticipation of the Argentine’s arrival, with the Stadio Olimpico set to provide a historic stage for a new chapter in Dybala’s storied career.

With AS Roma poised to heap more pressure on Juventus at the top of the <a href="https:\/\/worldsoccertalk.cms.futbolsitesnetwork.com/category/leagues-serie-a/">Serie A</a> table, it was Napoli who shocked the competition by claiming a 2-0 victory. A worrying trend has developed for Rudi Garcia’s men, who are yet to win against a so-called ‘big’ side this campaign. Losses to <a href="worldsoccertalk.cms.futbolsitesnetwork.com/category/juventus/">Juventus</a> and Bayern Munich were probably expected, but defeat at the hands of Napoli all but confirmed their fragility against the bigger sides.
For the victorious Napoli, Rafael Benitez will be relieved to see a fully recovered Gonzalo Higuain starting to find his best form. The Argentine registered his fifth goal for the season and turned provider for Serie A top scorer Jose Callejon.
Despite that positive result Napoli still find themselves trailing the likes of Sampdoria and Lazio who are all chasing a Champions League spot.
Here’s the best players to come out of the weekend’s action:
1. PAOLO DE CEGLIE (Parma)
The left-back landed at Parma on the last day of the transfer window on loan from Juventus. Two goals against Inter Milan sealed a precious three points for the team and manager Roberto Donadoni, whose position has been under severe scrutiny before the clash.
Ironically, it was a victory that will have reversed the pressure focused on Donadoni and will now see Inter Milan boss Walter Mazzarri under the microscope.
It was the 28-year-old’s third goal of the campaign and it meant that Parma have six points, just one point shy of climbing out of the relegation zone.
2. PAULO DYBALA (Palermo)
This Argentinean starlet has shot to prominence this term, with three goals and two assists in 10 matches. Surprisingly, Palermo sit on 12 points and are in a comfortable position.
Much of this decent form is down to the side’s 20-year-old striker, who scored a fine goal against a struggling AC Milan outfit.
Dybala is yet to received a U/21 Argentina cap, despite being in his third year at Palermo and first season as the primary striker. If he continues to put in performances like he did at the San Siro, then Palermo may not have any relegation troubles.
3. GONZALO HIGUAIN (Napoli)
It’s safe to say that Higuain is finally doing what he does best. His hat-trick against Verona last week was stunning, but a superb performance against rivals Roma was equally as impressive.
His bicycle kick goal was a thing of beauty and came just after three minutes of play. In the second half he then provided a brilliant ball for his former Real Madrid teammate Callejon to seal an important win.
Higuain’s display sees his side draw closer to a Champions League position, who are now just one point off the coveted spot. He is without a doubt the best striker in the league and after a sluggish start the 26-year-old is firing on all cylinders.
